Educator-led sessions in the My World Education Centre are designed to be fun, interactive and curriculum focused. Many sessions include opportunities for hands-on experiences with live animals and animal artefacts.
£20 per session (maximum 30 children).
Endangered Species and The Law (Citizenship/ Geography)
Why are some animals extinct and many other endangered? How do local, national and international laws help protect animals in the wild and in captivity? What is the wildlife trade? Includes specific examples of endangered species at Woburn, with opportunities for discussion stimulated by animal artefacts confiscated by HM Customs.
Amazing Adaptations (science)
What amazing adaptations have animals developed in order to feed, move and avoid predators in their particular habitats? What seasonal changes to the habitat do these animals have to endure and what strategies have they developed to avoid climatic stress?
Classification (science)
This session uses live animals and animal artefacts to help introduce animals classification: looking in some detail at invertebrates (insects and arthropods) and vertebrates (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals).
Role of a modern zoo
This session looks at the origins of zoos and how they have developed over time. It also covers the main ways in which zoos can support conservation and how they will evolve in the future.
How do we save planet earth?
It would take 3 planet earths to support the world’s lifestyle if everyone lived as we do in the UK. Find out in this session what impact humans are having on the world, how this is affecting ecosystems and wildlife and what we can do right now to make a difference.
Science day program:
The new science day programme brings together several activities starting when a ranger joins your coach for a guided tour of the reserves, followed by finding out about The Role of a Modern Zoo, and then opportunity to meet and talk to rangers about their job role and conservation. This can be
tailored for Key Stage 3 or 4 or post 16. This programme is especially suited to the SNAB curriculum.

Please ensure that the coaches you book have microphones. £1 per child (minimum charge £20) Suitable for all age groups.
